105-year-old Bacon Woman Says Key To Long Life Is Pig
Pearl Cantrell is still going strong at age 105.
The native of Texas has given birth to seven children and was no stranger to hard physical labor.
So what’s her secret to a long life? Bacon. Mrs. Cantrell eats bacon every day, and loves it, reports the Huff Post.
“I love bacon, I eat it everyday,” Pearl Cantrell told NBC affiliate KRBC when asked the secret to living so long. “I don’t feel as old as I am, that’s all I can say,” Cantrell added.
You might not think it to look at the lady, but she’s still active. Her 105th birthday was celebrated in style with over two hundred guests in attendance. Mrs. Cantrell said the party lasted three days.
In addition, Mrs. Cantrell still continues to dance. Upon hearing about Mrs. Cantrell’s love of bacon, the Oscar Mayer Company dispatched their iconic “wienermobile” to make a bacon delivery to her.
“We’ve seen a lot of stories on the road, but nothing quite like this one. So we’re excited to be here,” said Abraham Luna, a “hotdogger” for Oscar Mayer. “We know she’s an inspiration. Pearl is an inspiration for the community and her friends and family.”
The video of the “wienermobile” making the delivery to Mrs. Cantrell at her home in Abilene is available on viewing on the internet.
A recent study of 400,000 people published by the University of Zurich found that those who abstain from red meat or eat it very sparingly are at risk for premature death.
However, as the adage “all things in moderation” goes, consuming too much red meat increases a person’s risk of contracting bowel cancer. Mrs. Cantrell said she feels much longer than she looks.
