A 14-year-old boy is in the hospital, and his mother could wind up facing charges after he was shot in the leg by an older friend who lives at their home.
Santa Fe, TX – police are facing one of the more peculiar cases they have encountered in the form of a woman whose 14-year-old son was shot in the leg by a friend. The so-called friend is 23-year-old Pete Jesse Rodriguez who trained his sights on the boy with his hand-gun and eventually fired upon the boy striking him in the leg, reports the Huff Post.
The family has security cameras installed and they caught Rodriguez in the act of tracking boy before shooting him. To make matters worse, the mother was reluctant to take to boy to the hospital choosing instead to nurse him at home with tips from WebMD.
However, the popular medical website did not offer much by way of treating gunshot wounds. Finally, after as many as seven hours, she drove the boy to the hospital where he is said to be doing fine. Rodriguez was arrested and will face a charge of “child injury with intent to commit serious bodily injury”.
The boy’s mother also faces a charge of injury to her son by what is called “omission”.
A search of WebMD’s website shows that the search results do not even broach the subject of gunshot wounds. Rodriguez had been living with the family.
